On that gorgeous September day, I remember driving through the serene wooded trail to Michillinda Lodge, thinking ‘What IS this amazing place and WHY haven’t I heard of it before?!’ Emily picked a picture perfect location. Looking out the door from the cabin where I was busily styling away, made me feel like I was somewhere on vacation. A beautiful view with lush green grass and the bright blue water of Lake Michigan, with a light breeze blowing through the screens. Seriously, pinch me! I am so grateful to be able to do what I do. I get to meet wonderful gals, help them feel their most beautiful, play with hair, and travel to great locations. Let me just stop and take a moment thank ALL my brides for trusting me with their hair for their big days. Thank you, thank you, thank you. From the bottom of my heart. Thank you!
Emily, being a creative entrepreneur herself, found me through a creatives group we are both a part of. The Grand Rapids chapter of The Rising Tide Society. If you are a creator of any kind and want to connect with other creatives in your area, I HIGHLY recommend checking to see if there are any groups in your area! I have learned so much through this group and the monthly meetings. And check out what Emily is up to here with Brave Girl. She a super rad and inspiring gal.
Back to the wedding. Leigh Ann Cobb, is an extraordinary photographer. Feast your eyes on all the beauty from the day. Take note of the love and joy you see in both Emily and Joel’s eyes.
I loved Emily’s style. From her BHLDN gown, to the little beads we added to her perfectly undone updo, the easy breezy white bridesmaids dresses, and natural decor and florals by Two of a Kind Floral. She’s got an eye for style. Leigh Ann captured everything so lovely, make sure to see more from the wedding on her blog post here. You won’t regret it.
Now a little note about Emily’s hair. We had previously tired out a couple different half up styles at her trial. Beachy waves, pulled half back with twists and braids. A little time went by after her appointment and she realized those hairstyles were great…but for her maids. She decided on doing something a little more done up, showing off the back of her dress as well. There was an option to do a second trial, which is totally not out of the ordinary. But Emily said she trusted me to come up with the style on the day of her wedding, sending a couple inspiration photos as well. Which totally made me smile. I think the final updo was a winner, no?
